Start with certification
“Organic” on its own is just a word. Look for GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), which verifies organic fiber content plus environmental and social criteria on the finished product. Choose your weave
- Percale — a crisp, cool, matte weave. Best for warm sleepers and anyone who loves a fresh-hotel-bed feel.
- Sateen — silky and smooth with a subtle sheen and a touch more warmth. Best if softness is your priority.
- Linen — textured, breathable, and relaxed; it softens with every wash. Great for hot sleepers.
- Flannel — brushed for cozy warmth, ideal for cold rooms and winter.
Thread count isn't everything
Past about 300, higher thread counts mostly signal marketing, not quality. Weave and fiber matter more — a 200–400 thread-count organic cotton sheet in the right weave will outperform a 1000-count synthetic blend.
Read the fiber content
Genuinely organic sheets state 100% organic cotton or linen. “Cotton-rich” usually means synthetics are in the mix.
